Frequently Asked Questions
  • What size is the canvas?

    All of our canvases are 16" x 20".  If we ever have a special class with a smaller or larger size canvas or different medium, it will be noted in the class description.

  • Will you charge my card when I make a reservation?

    Yes, your card will be charged immediately.

  • What if I need to change or cancel my reservation?

    You may cancel your reservation up to 7 days before the session.  If you cancel by that time the amount that was originally charged for your session will be placed as a credit on your account, and will be available to be applied for future sessions.  If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the session time, and do not show up for the session, no credit will be given.
    To cancel, you must be signed into your on-line account.  Click on “My Sessions”.  Cancel any session using the Change button on the right side.

  • Can I book a group of reservations, or does each person have to reserve individually?

    It's up to you.  If one person books for the whole group, the entire amount will be charged on their card at the time of booking.  The advantage is that you will be sure you get the total number of seats you need at the time of booking (for example if a session is close to being sold out).  Other members of the party can just pay the person who books the session for their seats.
    Alternately each person can book their seat individually.  There is a place in the checkout screen where you can leave a comment.  Here you can indicate who you want to be seated with and we will do our best to seat you together.  This allows each person in the group to pay their own way.

  • What if my friends all made separate reservations but we still want to sit together in the session?

    Use the Contact Us link on the left menu to indicate the session and the names of the people in your group.  We will always do our best to accommodate any requests.

  • What is the price of a session?

    2 hr sessions are $35.00, 3 hr sessions are $45.00.

  • Is there a minimum age?

    PUBLIC CLASSES:

    Most of our classes are family friendly. If there’s age restrictions for any class, it will be noted in class description. 


    Our all classes are Family Friendly (Kids friendly). Minimum age requirement is age 6+.

     

    That doesn't mean adults can't join us! Our classes are meant to be relaxing while enjoying and making memories with your friends and family.

     

    PRIVATE PARTIES:

     

    Since it's your guest list, there is no age minimum for private parties at Painting Escapes!

  • How long is the session?

    Unless otherwise noted, sessions are 2 or 3 hours, more detailed paintings are done in the 3 hr sessions. Some kid-themed sessions are 90 minutes. The duration of the session is always listed with every posted painting.

  • How early should I get there?

    We encourage you to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early so you can get checked-in and settled. We don't open the doors until 30 minutes before the start of session, so there's no need to arrive earlier.

    PARKING IN DOWNTOWN PLYMOUTH CAN SOMETIMES BE A CHALLENGE SO ALLOW YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO FIND PARKING AND GET TO PAINTING ESCAPES BEFORE THE START TIME OF YOUR CLASS OR PARTY.  WE WILL GET STARTED ON TIME AND WE CANNOT RUN OVER THE SCHEDULED END TIME. 

    If you want to make sure you get to sit with your friends/group make sure to add a note in the comment section when making your reservation. For example, list the name of the person /people you want to be seated with, if you want to sit close to the teacher, etc. If you don’t add that note at the time of the reservation you can contact us by going to the “Contact Us” link on the left menu to indicate the session and the names of the people in your group.  We will always do our best to accommodate any request.

  • What do I need to bring to session?

    You don’t have to bring anything because we supply everything you will need for your session (paints, brushes, easel, canvas, apron, etc.).


    You can bring your own drinks (non-alcoholic beverages) and snacks if you like!

  • I've never been to anything like this, what do I do when I get there?

    When you arrive you will go to the Check-In desk so we can confirm your registration and get you set up with everything you'll need which includes the 16 x 20 canvas, paint, apron, paintbrushes, etc. Then the lead artist will take you step-by-step through every stroke...and you leave with your own painting!  After everyone is checked-in we will start the session!

  • What should I wear?

    Though we provide a apron, there is still a chance you will get paint on you.  The paint is water-based acrylic, so it washes off, but we still suggest you wear clothes that you wouldn't mind getting paint on.

  • Will I be able to take my painting home at the end of the session?

    Yes.  The sessions are designed so that the painting will be dry by the end of session.  If you're running a little behind we even have hair dryers to speed up the process.

  • Do I have to paint the painting in the colors pictured on your website?

    No.  If you like a painting but want to customize it for any reason (to match your home decor, a favorite color, etc.) you are welcome to do so. You are always encouraged to "make it your own."

  • Do you offer private parties?

    Yes.  Book a private party at Painting Escapes in artsy Downtown Plymouth...or we'll come to you!!  Birthday Parties, Girls Night Out, Date Nights, Bachelorette Parties, Bridal Showers, Retirement Parties, Baby Showers,  Team Building.  Choose from our portfolio of paintings, or we'll create one especially for your event.  We specialize in THEME PARTIES.  Let's talk about your vision and create a Painting Escape!

    You can book a private party at Painting Escapes for a minimum of 10 people.  There are no additional charges to book a private party at Painting Escapes!!  Just select a painting from our portfolio, bring your own beverages and snacks, and leave the entertainment and clean-up to us!!

    Don't see the perfect painting in our portfolio?  You can commission a painting specifically for your party for an additional $50!!  For a party of 25 or more, Painting Escapes will cover the cost of your commissioned painting.  Let us know your vision for the painting and our artists will sketch a rendering for you.  Select the rendering that you like, and "Voila!", your entire party will learn how to paint that painting at your private party!

    You can have a party any time at Painting Escapes (subject to artist and studio availability).

    To ensure the date and time you want, book your private party as early as possible.   We prefer a minimum of 7 days in advance but will work with you if you are putting an event together on short notice.

    Charges for adult parties at Painting Escapes are $35/person for 2-hour parties, or, $45/person for 3-hour parties.

    Payment:
    A $50 deposit will hold your desired day and time.  There is a 10-day cancellation notice.  Deposit will be forfeited plus an additional $100 (total of $150) will be charged to the credit card if party is cancelled less than 10 days prior to the event.

    Don't want to put the entire cost on your own credit card?  Ask us about our Easy Party Link option where each guest can make their own reservation.

  • If a session I want is already sold out, can I get on a waiting list in case someone cancels?

    Click on the Waiting List link below a sold out session on our calendar.  You will be prompted to enter your information.  If a cancellation occurs, an email will automatically be sent to everyone on the waiting list notifying them of the opening(s).

  • Do you offer Gift Certificates?

    Yes.  Click on Gift Certificates in the left menu.

  • May I bring my baby/toddler/young child to an adult session with me?

    No.  While painting is a relaxing and enjoyable experience, it does require your full attention and both hands to do.


    We love babies and children as much as you do, however, please arrange for childcare before your session.  This will allow you to relax and unwind without having to care for your child(ren), and will not disrupt the session.

  • I think I booked a session but I cannot find my confirmation email. Is there any way to see my reservations?

    Yes.  Log in at the top left of this page and you can see all of your session information.

  • My contact information has changed and I would like to update my account settings. How can I do this?

    Log in at the top left of this page to update your account information.

  • When will each month's calendar be posted?

    We try to get the next month's calendar up by the 15th of the current month, if not sooner (i.e. December's calendar should be up around November 15th, etc.).  "LIKE" us on Facebook or "FOLLOW" us on Twitter to get notices regarding discounts, new sessions and paintings.

  • I forgot my password, how can I log in?

    Go to Forgot Password at the top left of this page and enter your email address. Instructions will be emailed to reset the password for your account.

  • What type of paint do you use?

    We use water-based, non-toxic, acrylic paint.

  • I have a gift certificate/coupon/free session, how do I indicate that when I am checking out?

    When you are checking out for a session you will see a place to enter a Gift Certificate or Coupon code at the top of your shopping cart.  The value will be applied to the total due for your reservation.

  • Do you offer any discounts/coupons?

    Yes, we offer a 15% discount for all open classes for 3 days after we first post our calendar for the following month. We use Facebook and our Newsletter to notify everyone when next month's calendar is first posted. 


    We will occasionally offer additional specials as well; these specials will be posted on our Painting Escapes Facebook Page so make sure to “Like” us so your always in the loop!

  • How can I cancel/change a class if I am within your cancellation policy?

    1) Sign into your on-line account and click on “My Classes”

    2) Find the class you are canceling and click "Change” 

    3) Click on the box in front of the registered name.

    4) Click on the appropriated choice

    When you finish, your account will show an account credit. Refunds are given only as class credit. For your next purchase, the shopping cart will NOT automatically apply the credit and deduct the cost of your purchase from your account credit before it charges your credit card.  YOU MUST CLICK ON THE BUTTON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAGE “APPLY ACCOUNT CREDIT”.

  • Is it safe to use my credit card on-line ?

    Online payment via credit card is secure, fast, easy and will guarantee that your registration is processed immediately.
    We are using a certtiifcate : 128-bit SSL encryption.

  • What methods of payment do you accept ?

    Our online system allows us to accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover.
